Catherine Ford is a British actress, born in Bloomsbury. Following the time her father left the family, she was raised to maturity by her mother, grandparents, and godparents. As a child Ford was afflicted with anxiety due to an obsessional-compulsive condition. Ford was attracted to acting in her teenaged years, and joined the National Youth Theatre. The school she was accepted to was Sylvia Young Theatre School. But after just a few days, she concluded that the school was not for her. Ford later applied for a place at the Central School of Speech and Drama and received an acceptance on her fourth attempt. A classmate of hers included Shaun Dingwall, who would be later reprise her role in the role of Pete Tyler in Doctor Who. Ford graduated in 1993. However, prior to that, Ford made a television debut, appearing as a character in Surgical Spirit in an episode that aired in 1991. Ford took the professional name of Catherine Tate. Tate first appeared on television in 1991and appeared on television shows like The Bill. Men Behaving Badly. as well as London's Burning. She worked on stage regularly as well as a part of The Royal Shakespeare Company's season 2000-2001. Tate's stand-up humor that she started adding to her repertoire in 1996, soon gained her admiration.
